  • Dates for these positions: June 17–July 26, 2025
    Summer salary for these positions starts at $6,000 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    The Senior Leadership Team reports to and supports the Camp Director to run all aspects of camp including supporting campers, managing team members, and helping with camp programs and operations.

    Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Supporting the Camp Director with daily functions of camp and team management

    • Ensuring camper physical and emotional safety, well-being, and enjoyment by creating a safe, fun environment in which they can make friends, play, and grow

    • Developing and facilitating professional development trainings during team orientation and daily team meetings

    • Assuming any role on the team in case of emergency or unforeseen circumstances

    • Assuming a leadership role at camp by ensuring campers and team members have what they need; ensuring team members know and are being held accountable to their job expectations; and supporting with supervision and oversight like doing evening dorm checks, supporting at a station during meal times, and more.

    Desired skills and experience:

    • A high school diploma; college degree or some college credit strongly preferred

    • Experience working with kids entering grades 4–9 in education, afterschool/summer programs, and/or other youth development settings strongly preferred

    • Experience managing and training adults strongly preferred

    • Strong leadership, organizational, communications, and problem-solving skills coupled with a positive, creative, flexible, and energetic attitude

    • Demonstrated ability to manage and work well in teams

    • Deep commitment to Change Summer’s mission and being an excellent role model to inspire and support our campers

    • An “all hands” mentality (i.e., willingness to help ensure we provide the best experience for campers)

    Family Liaison

    The Family Liaison serves as a key member of the Senior Team. The role of the Family Liaison is to attend to all family needs prior to and during the camp season, and to assist the Camp Director with family contacts, phone calls, emails, and any family questions that may arise. Prior to the camp season, the Family Liaison assists the Camp Director with recruitment efforts including phone calls, phone banks, registration events, translations and any other assignments related to camper recruitment and enrollment as determined by the Camp Director. The Family Liaison will help develop and deliver professional development training during team orientation and team meetings and assist with ongoing team and camper management. 

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors degree preferred

    • Must be a self-starter

    • Must have a warm and personable nature and enjoy talking to people

    Head Counselors

    The Head Counselors will serve as key members of the Senior Team. They will develop and deliver professional development training during orientation and team meetings, assist with ongoing team and camper management, and communicate with campers’ families. In addition, they will assist the Camp Director in the day-to-day functions of camp and the management of all teams. The Head Counselors are responsible for campers’ physical and emotional support and must ensure that campers and teams feel supported. 

    Head of Programs

    The Program Director will serve as a key member of the Senior Team. She/he will develop and deliver professional development training during team orientation and team meetings as well as develop and manage the camp schedule and calendar. Additionally, the Program Director will manage and give meaningful feedback to all activity team members. The Program Director is responsible for driving all aspects of the camp program including day-to-day activities, electives, evening activities, and special days/field trips.

    Qualifications

    • Must be highly organized

    • Curriculum and Instruction interest or experience a plus

    • Management experience a plus

    • Must be able to build and maintain a schedule 

    • Must be highly adaptable to change

    Head of Operations

    The Head of Operations is responsible for keeping the office organized, assisting in the day-to-day programming of camp including assisting in the set-up and implementation of all daytime camp activities and evening activities. In addition, the Head of Operations manages all pre-camp ordering and secures and oversees all external vendors (e.g., laundry, coach buses, out-of-camp trips, etc.). She/he is also responsible for assisting with the logistics of team orientation as well as supporting the Director and Program Director as necessary.

    Qualifications

    • Must be highly organized and have a keen eye for detail

    • Operational thinker with experience in operations

    • Management experience a plus

    • Must be able to pivot and be creative and adaptable

    • Must be highly adaptable to change

    Assistant Director

    The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Camp Director with Senior Team and Team accountability, as well as need-based tasks throughout the summer. They are expected to take initiative, notice gaps, and help to fill them throughout the summer. In addition, they will assist the Camp Director in the day-to-day functions of campers, including family communication, management of the camp nurses, vendor relations as well as ongoing communication and relationships with other members of the senior team. Their roles and responsibilities will vary based on the capacity and needs of the Camp Director.  This Assistant Director will report directly to the Camp Director.

  • Dates for these positions: June 17–July 26, 2025
    The Health Center Team is responsible for ensuring the health, wellness, and safety of all campers and team members.

    Key duties & responsibilities across the Health Center Team include, but are not limited to:

    • Documenting all injuries and care rendered, including documentation of all over-the-counter medicines, first aid treatment, and communication with parents, doctors/nurse practitioners or any other off-camp facilities

    • Contacting parents of ill or injured campers and counselors (if appropriate) and updating them as necessary

    • Maintaining inventory of supplies

    • Keeping the Health Center clean and organized

    • Working directly with all Health Center team members and Nurses

    Required certifications and desired experience and skills:

    • Head Nurse and Nurses must be Registered Nurses; we will cover the cost for you to obtain a state license where camp is located

    • Experience and/or interest in working with youth ages 9–14

    • Ability to communicate effectively with families

    • Dedication to the mission of Change Summer and to social justice

    • Desire to work in an outdoor, camp setting

    • An “all hands” mentality (i.e., willingness to help ensure we provide the best experience for campers)

    Head Nurse

    The Head Nurse manages all aspects of the Camp Health Center. The Head Nurse will report to the Camp Director and will supervise the Health Center Team. The Head Nurse works closely with Nurse Practitioners, Camp Doctors, the Camp Senior Team, the Change Summer CEO, and the Change Summer Operations Team. The Head Nurse and Health Center Team is responsible for ensuring the health, wellness and safety of all campers and team members. 

    Qualifications:

    • Must have RN License in state where camp is located

    • Must have at least 5 years experience as a nurse

    • Management experience a plus

    • Must be detail oriented

    Nurse

    Nurses to help with all aspects of the Camp Health Center. Nurses will report to the Head Nurse and the Camp Director, and work closely with the Health Center Team, nurse practitioners, camp doctors, and the Senior Team. The Nurse is responsible for ensuring the health, wellness and safety of all campers and team members. 

    Qualifications:

    • Must have RN/LPN License in state where camp is located

    • Nursing experience a plus

    Health Center Administrator

    The Health Center Administrator is responsible for organizing the logistics of the Health Center.  This involves managing camper and staff medical records, organizing and replenishing Health Center supplies, ensuring the Health Center remains clean and neat, and keeping camper/staff medication organized.  They are also responsible for making appointments with local clinics and hospitals for patient care as needed.  The Health Center Administrator will drive campers/staff to various appointments and also purchase necessary supplies out of camp.   

    Qualifications

    • Must have great organizational skills and have the ability to think operationally

    • Must have understanding of technology and software like google drives, excel, etc.

    • Must be personable and like working with people 

    • Nursing student  or pre-med preferred

  • Dates for these positions: June 23–July 26 , 2025
    The Operations Team is responsible for all administrative logistics supporting day-to-day camp programming as well as pre-camp team orientation.

    Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring camper safety and well-being at all times

    • Participating in team orientation professional development trainings

    • Ensuring that campers are enjoying their experience at camp by creating a safe, fun environment in which they can make friends, play, and grow

    • Ensuring camper physical and emotional safety throughout the entirety of their experience at camp

    • Assisting with camper/family communication, including completing daily reports on each camper communication

    • Assuming any role on the team in case of emergency departure, unforeseen circumstances, or illness

    • Performing other related duties as required and assigned by the Camp Director and/or Senior Leadership Team

    Desired skills and experience:

    • A high school diploma; college degree or some college credit preferred

    • A deep sense of the Change Summer mission and experience and/or interest in working with youth ages 9–14

    • A desire and ability to work well in teams as well as autonomously

    • An “all hands” mentality (i.e., willingness to help ensure we provide the best experience for campers)

    • A willingness to receive and implement feedback in order to grow and develop leadership capabilities and confidence

    • The ability to meet deadlines

    • Very strong organizational skills

    • A tremendous work ethic

    • Ability to communicate with various stakeholders and solve complex problems

    • Demonstrated flexibility, self-awareness, integrity, curiosity, kindness, and patience

    Office Manager

    The Office Manager is responsible for keeping the office organized, assisting in the day-to-day programming of camp including assisting in the set-up and implementation of all daytime camp activities and evening activities. She/he is also responsible for assisting with the logistics of team orientation as well as assisting the Director and Program Director as necessary.

    Office Team Member

    The Office Team Member role is crucial to the day to day operations of camp. Office Team Members carry out a variety of essential daily tasks such as printing or uploading family/camper messages, picking up or delivering materials on or off site as well as assisting with the logistics of team orientation, camper arrival and departure.  Applicants must be organized, operationally minded, mission driven, have a “solutions oriented” mindset, and valid driver’s license.  Office Team Members report directly to the Head of Operations and Director of camp

    Qualifications

    • Must have great organizational skills and have the ability to think operationally

    • Must have understanding of technology and software like google drives, excel, etc.

    • Must be personable and like working with people 

    Camp Photographer and Media Coordinator

    The Camp Photographer and Media Coordinator is responsible for capturing daily life at camp through photos and videos, organizing all content, and making content available to families through the online family portal and camp social media. Images will also be used for marketing and promotional purposes. The Camp Photographer and Media Coordinator will also lead an elective block. The Camp Photographer and Media Coordinator reports directly to the Director of camp and their designee.

    Qualifications

    • Must have a camera

    • Must have experience taking pictures and editing experience

    Summer salary for these positions starts at $5,250 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.
    Activity Department Heads are responsible for ensuring high-quality camp programming through lesson planning and professional development.

    Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring camper safety and well-being at all times

    • Developing, facilitating, and participating in team orientation professional development trainings

    • Ensuring that campers are enjoying their experience at camp by creating a safe, fun environment in which they can make friends, play, and grow

    • Ensuring camper physical and emotional safety throughout the entirety of their experience at camp

    • Assisting with camper/family communication, including completing daily reports on each camper communication

    • Assuming any role on the team in case of emergency departure, unforeseen circumstances, or illness

    • Performing other related duties as required and assigned by the Camp Director and/or Senior Leadership Team

    Desired skills and experience:

    Head of Aquatics

    The Head of Aquatics is responsible for designing, managing, and supervising camp’s swim program, including facilitation of swim tests and lessons for all campers. They are an important member of the camp team responsible for ensuring the camper safety around all water activities. they must have updated lifeguard/water certifications.

    Qualifications

    • Must be deep water certified lifeguard.

    • Swim instructor training a plus

    • Management experience a plus

    Head of Athletics

    The Head of Athletics role is crucial to the daily operation of sports-related activity and elective blocks (e.g., Basketball, Adventure, Soccer, etc.).  The Head of Athletics will ensure high-quality athletic programming through lesson plan creation and review, professional development to activity counselors, and regular observation and feedback cycles.  She/he will work with the athletics activity counselors and Head of Operations to order and maintain all necessary materials.  The Head of Athletics will report to the Program Director.  Applicants should have some experience leading adult teams and managing inventory.

    Qualifications

    • Must have teaching or coaching experience in fitness or athletics

    • Bachelors degree 

    • Experience managing people a plus

    Head of Inter-Arts 

    The Head of Inter-Arts role is crucial to the daily operation of artistic expression-related activity and elective blocks (e.g., dance, drama, broadcasting etc.).  The Head of Inter-Arts will ensure high quality arts programming through lesson plan creation and review, professional development to activity counselors, and regular observation and feedback cycles. She/he will work with the inter-arts activity counselors and Head of Operations to order and maintain all necessary materials. The Head of Inter-Arts will report to the Program Director.  Applicants should have some experience leading adult teams and managing inventory.

    Qualifications:

    • Must have teaching or coaching experience in an arts related subject

    • Bachelors degree

    • Experience managing people a plus

    Summer salary for these positions starts at $2,500–4,000 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.

    Activity Counselors

    Activity Counselors serve as key members of the camp team members and participate in professional development training during team orientation and team meetings. The Activity Counselor plays a crucial role in each camper's experience by planning and facilitating activities that encourage campers to develop deeper levels of independence, curiosity, responsibility and confidence.  Activity Counselors partner with Group Counselors to support campers when they are not leading an Activity or Elective block.  Activity Counselors report directly to the Director of camp and their designees.

    Qualifications

    • Interest or experience in working with children

    • Experience and passion for the activity they are interested in teaching

  • Dates for these positions: June 23–July 26, 2025
    Summer salary for these positions starts at $2,500 and varies by experience and years worked at camp.

    Group Counselors serve as key members of the camp team members and participate in professional development training during team orientation and team meetings. The primary responsibility of a Group Counselor is to manage a group of campers each day as they participate in various activities and program areas. Group Counselors are responsible for campers’ physical and emotional safety and must ensure that campers feel supported. They live with campers and ensure that campers participate in all activities, make lasting friendships, and build independence, curiosity, confidence, and creativity. Group Counselors report directly to the Director of camp and their designees.

    Qualifications

    • Interest or experience in working with children

    • Must have a history of being responsible and safety oriented with good decision making capabilities

  • Dates for these positions: June 23–July 26, 2025
    Summer salary for these positions is $2,500.
    Junior Counselors serve as key members of the camp team. Junior Counselors participate in professional development training during team orientation and team meetings. Junior Counselors are responsible for campers’ physical and emotional safety and must ensure that campers feel supported. Junior Counselors will live with campers and encourage them to participate in all activities, make lasting friendships, and build their confidence, curiosity, independence, and responsibility. Junior Counselors report directly to the Head of Junior Counselors.

    Junior Counselors will also participate in a program of their own to help them develop professional skills, develop and complete age-appropriate goals, and gain the professional and emotional support necessary to be successful in a working environment. The Junior Counselor Program also provides rising high school seniors the opportunity to be away from home in a safe, nurturing environment and increase their own independence in preparation for college and beyond.

    Key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Ensuring camper safety and well-being at all times

    • Participating in team orientation professional development trainings

    • Ensuring that campers are enjoying their experience at camp by creating a safe, fun environment in which they can make friends, play, and grow

    • Ensuring camper physical and emotional safety throughout the entirety of their experience at camp

    • Participating in all camp activities and ensuring that standards are met and campers are safe and happy

    • Assisting with camper/family communication, including completing daily reports on each camper communication

    • Performing other related duties as required and assigned by the Camp Director and/or Senior Leadership Team

    Desired skills and experience:

    • Entering the 12th grade within our partner schools’ networks in the 2024-2025 school year

    • Interest in working with youth ages 9–14
